Dar es Salaam, Tanzania – In a significant move to bolster the nation’s revenue collection capabilities, H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, has officially approved an increase of 300 new job positions at the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA). This approval elevates the total number of new employment opportunities at TRA to 1,896, a substantial rise from the initially announced 1,596 positions.
The expansion comes after a formal request from the TRA to incorporate these 300 roles, which were already allocated in the budget for the upcoming 2025/2026 financial year. President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan’s approval allows these positions to be filled through the recently concluded recruitment process.

According to a statement released by the Tanzania Revenue Authority and signed by Mr. Moshi Jonathan Kabengwe, Director of Human Resources and Administration, on behalf of the Commissioner General:
- Appointment Letters: The 1,896 newly recruited TRA employees are set to receive their appointment letters today, May 28, 2025, via their registered email addresses.
- Reporting Date: All 1,896 successful candidates are required to report to their designated duty stations on June 2, 2025, at 7:00 a.m. sharp.
- Required Documents: Appointees must bring all necessary documents as specified in their appointment emails.
A Look at TRA’s Extensive 2025 Recruitment Drive:
The Tanzania Revenue Authority’s recent recruitment initiative saw immense interest:
- Initial Vacancies: TRA initially announced 1,596 job vacancies in early February 2025.
- Applications Received: A staggering 135,027 job applications were submitted.
- Eligible for Written Exam: Out of these, 113,023 applicants met the required criteria and were invited for the written screening exam held on March 29 and 30, 2025.
- Oral Interviews: Candidates who successfully passed the written exam progressed to oral interviews, which took place from May 12 to 14, 2025, with 6,325 candidates participating.
The Authority extended its sincere appreciation to all individuals who expressed interest in joining the Tanzania Revenue Authority and wished them the best in their contributions to nation-building. Furthermore, the 4,429 applicants who participated in the interview stage but were not selected will have their information retained in the Authority’s database for consideration in future opportunities.
